All New X-Men #1 Review
Marvel NOW! is almost in full swing and the All New X-Men has hit store shelves this week.
What effects has the Phoenix force had on mutant kind, better yet, what effect did it have on the human race? When the Phoenix force was dispersed, it’s powers didn’t just disappear, they began the next evolution in mutant physiology. Now unaware mutants are discovering their new found powers and quickly finding themselves enemies of the state. Cyclops, now an outcast among his old X-Men team, is scooping up these new impressionable mutants bent on a mutant revolution.
The follow-up that the Avengers vs X-Men saga deserves is finally here. Brian Michael Bendis is throwing a monkey wrench all-up-in the X-Men universe, and all without mentioning how Cyclops escaped prison. All you need to know is that mutants are changing and Cyclops’ mind is still broken from the Phoenix host. His ideologies sound more like Magneto’s, and he now has young new mutants to train in his new found lot on life. The cliffhanger was quite excellent and I’m really looking forward to seeing how all of this is going to pan out. I’m being vague on purpose because you really just have to read it and find out what Beast is up to.
