Mars Attacks #1 Review
“First Contact! First Carnage!”
It’s unfair for me to actually review anything Mars Attacks because I’ve been a fan of the entire fiction since the first time I laid eyes on the big brained martians in their oddly shaped fish bowl helmets. Then Tim Burton came along and let me fall in love with them all over again. Something about them is so hilarious yet so frightening. When I first founded nerdfarmblog.com and began seriously writing for it, I wrote a small piece begging the question, “What if ‘Mars Attacks’?” Now IDW has let us relive this great franchise with it’s brand new take on the Mars Attacks series.
Mars Attacks #1 is the tale about the martian General Zar and his impending invasion of Earth. Zar and a few other martians on a reconnaissance mission crash land on Earth and have a run in with some of the locals. Zar is captured and rescued by his relentless crew but not before he’s grossly disfigured by a carny ringleader. A bloody massacre ensues and Zar barely escapes with his life, and without his crew. Now hellbent on revenge, he wants to see the human race suffer, their civilization crumble, and the entire planet in ruin (those exact words are from the book btw).
