Infinity Countdown #1 Review
At first glance Infinity Countdown just looks like Marvel grabbing at anything to keep the interest of its fan base, and why not? Legacy was VERY short lived, even though I enjoyed a few pieces and the idea behind it. Oh that, and of course the GIANT Avengers movie surrounding a mad tyrant and a glove that holds infinity stones. I’m obviously talking about Avengers: Infinity War, don’t act like you don’t know what I’m talking about.
Although Infinity Countdown is only a five part series, it actually started with Infinity Countdown: Adam Warlock, which is a very interesting issue with art by the always amazing Michael Allred, and Infinity Countdown Prime, which I honestly didn’t care too much for. The key piece that ties all of these issues together is Gerry Duggan who’s written all of them. If you’d like to go even deeper into the Infinity timeline check out Bleeding Cool’s convenient Infinity Countdown Checklist.
Issue one shouldn’t have been a surprise, the team of Gerry Duggan and Aaron Kuder should have been the first giveaway that this book was going to be a funny and entertaining read. I mean, I’ve only been reading Duggan and Kruder’s All-New Guardians of the Galaxy since they started on the book back in 2017, how would I know, right?
Much like All-New Guardians of the Galaxy, Infinity Countdown is an exciting and action filled read with just the right amount of funny. It’s the James Gunn recipe for success really, except in comic form. Get in on this multi team epic, it’s a blast.
