New Comics We’re Reading 8-22-12
Before Watchmen: Dr. Manhattan is finally released almost 3 months after Before Watchmen: Minutemen. Before Watchmen has been exploring every major character from the Watchmen original story by Alan Moore & Dave Gibbons. Each mini-series has its own charm and interest, overall very satisfying and enjoyable reads. J. Michael Straczynski and Adam Hughes have a lot of hype and expectation they must live up to. J. Michael Straczynski is a seasoned writer and creator. He spent 5 years writing on Amazing Spider-Man, another super hero and non-supe relationship like Dr. Manhattan and Laurie Juspeczyk. Visually Dr. Manhattan will be brought to glorious life by Adam Hughes. If you have seen a bad ass cover with a beautiful woman on it, then he probably did the art work for it. His style of awe-inspiring heroes is the perfect fit for the blue “God” like Dr. Manhattan. DC has even had Paul Pope do a variant cover, that any Pope fan or Watchmen fan would be happy to own.
Batman Inc #3 will officially be released this week after being held up due to questionable content. After an exhaustive search thru the entire issue we are not sure what DC saw, but this issue is fun and entertaining, not offensive. Grant Morrison has improved quite a bit since the New 52 Batman Inc has started. He hasn’t even threatened brain damage . YET!
Mark Millar‘s Super Crooks #4 “The Big Finale” is here to fill that hole left after you left the Expendables II theatre. Mark Millar who may not have Siri to remind him of deadlines makes up for it with wickedly fun comics like Super Crooks. It’s a must read for anyone that wants a different kind of super hero comic.
