New Comics for September 5th, 2012
What we’re reading: where the Cosmic Crew talks about a few of the books they look forward to reading this week!
One Year Later – the New 52
September is Zero Month for DC Comics. Zero month being a celebration of the New 52 and a way to boost sales 1 year later. DC states the #0 issues as special origins and stories revealed, but with #0 this month what happened to issue 13. Maybe DC felt is was an unlucky number and decided to skip it or maybe we will get 14 issues in the next year. Truth is an issue that comes out once a year and may or may not be part of a current story line is called an Annual, but even with this new sales tactic the creative teams are the same so content should be top-notch and worth having in your collection. Speaking of failures in the New 52 tomorrow our own T-Pull starts a special month long look at where DC fell short with the New 52.
The hardcover collection of the first 6 issues of Aquaman in the New 52 is out this week. This is one of the characters that DC has truly breathed new live into with a little help from Geoff Johns.
Bullseye!
Get it! Hawkeye#2 is new this week and he always hits the bullseye cause he’s the best there is at what he does! What he is currently doing is adopting a stray dog. Sound like an odd story for a super hero? Not if you are trying to humanize a character that has a history of short-lived series. It would be a great disappoint if this current series got cancelled. Its focus is exclusively on Clint Barton the man, not the Hawkeye image of the Avengers. If you haven’t given Hawkeye a chance you should and if you are new to the Avenger mythos this a great book to branch out on.
