October is National Breast Cancer awareness month and Cosmic Comics! wants your help donating some cash to the Susan G Komen for the Cure charity. For every new “Like” on Facebook during the month of October Cosmic Comics! will donate $1 to the Susan G Komen for the Cure foundation. In case your not familiar with Susan G Komen for the cure, here’s their story. In the early 1980’s Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G Komen for the Cure® and launched the global breast cancer movement.
Today, Susan G Komen is the boldest community fueling the best science and making the biggest impact in the fight against breast cancer. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, they have invested almost $2 billion to fulfill their promise, working to end breast cancer in the U.S. and throughout the world through ground-breaking research, community health outreach, advocacy and programs in more than 50 countries.
Today Susan G Komen for the Cure is one of the most recognized charities in the world with 100’s of corporate and 1000’s of individual sponsors and partners. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month you can find the Susan G Komen pink ribbons just about everywhere you look. NFL players can be seen wearing pink shoes, gloves and other equipment which is later sold with the proceeds going to Susan G Komen for the Cure. Marvel Comics also teamed up with Susan G Komen with a special one page advertorial and a whole slew of special pink variant covers for many of their October comic releases.
