Description
Synopsis for “The Kryptonite Man”
When Lex Luthor comes up with a solution that makes him radiate Kryptonite rays, he dubs himself the “Kryptonite Man” and goes on a mission to destroy Superman. Attracting the Man of Steel’s attention by smashing a statue, Superman goes into action, and is shocked when his old nemesis turns out to be expelling Kryptonite radiation from his body. Being chased around by Luthor in a plane, Superman is forced to smash into the ground and dig a retreat away from Luthor.
As Clark Kent, Superman is briefly caught off guard as well when the monkey Luthor tested his serum on escapes and traps him at a local zoo. However, he manages to use his fleeting powers to trick it into hopping into a lead pipe. Deciding to go after Luthor in a lead costume, Lex had planned ahead and uses a satellite that changes all of Earth’s lead into glass, making Superman’s lead costume change into glass as well. Superman then agrees to leave the Earth in 24 hours or face death at the hands of Luthor.
While on the Moon, Superman builds a new lead costume, this time equipping it with a special television monitor allowing Superman to see outside of the suit. He then tracks down the satellite and throws it into deep space. Confronting Luthor again, the criminal is ready with a device that destroys Superman’s suit of armor. However, the Man of Steel appears to be unaffected by the Kryptonite anymore (Luthor is unaware that Superman is secretly being controlled like a puppet by Jimmy Olsen, using invisible cables to control him from the Daily Planet’s helicopter.)
Because his green glow would make him an easy find in the dark, Luthor is drinks the antidote in order to escape into the dark, playing right into Superman’s hands. Superman then easily captures and turns Luthor over to the police.
