Batman/Superman #1 Review
This review should be an easy one, right? I mean c’mon, Batman and Superman teaming up in their own comic book? Sure they’re together in Justice League but, that’s a whole team of superheroes. Maybe you’re like me and feel the amount of Batman and Superman titles right now in the DC universe is just too damn high. Well my concerned DC reader, fret not, Batman/Superman is worthy of its shelf space.
Batman/Superman #1 pits the duo against one of Batman’s toughest foes to date, The Batman Who Laughs. Besides outwitting baddies, this time it’s the orphan and the alien doing what they do best, annoy the shit out of each other. Is Superman equipped to challenge a Batman without morals, can they defy an unnerving invasion of the Dark Multiverse? I honestly can’t answer these questions, and by the end of issue #1, you’ll be hard pressed to take that bet.
I don’t blame DC for pushing arguably one of the most exciting villains in recent Bat history. The Batman Who Laughs is a terrifying and unpredictable force. Just don’t get this book confused with the MANY other books he’s included in. Even the front cover of Batman/Superman #1 has the tagline “The Hunt Begins For The Infected”, which you shouldn’t confuse with the recent DCeased book. There’s also a part including Jimmy Olsen which I’m unsure connects with the newest Superman’s Pal Jimmy Olsen book. Could all of these be connected? I have no clue.
Joshua Williamson and David Marquez’s Batman/Superman #1 is a fantastic book by itself. The story, the art, the villains, the banter, it’s all on point. I don’t read many Bat books, and I sure as hell don’t read many Supes books but, this one is different. It just hits on all cylinders and will make you gasp on the last page. No peaking though, it’s worth the surprise.

[…] been a long time since we reviewed some DC books amirite? At least one that doesn’t include Batman or Superman anyway. Although I’m enjoying the hell out of Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olson. Happy to say […]
