Copperhead #1 review
There’s a new Sherif in town, or Sheriff if you wan’t to be a dick about it, and that’s about how Sheriff Bronson, the newest officer of the law for the small dusty town of Copperhead is going to play it. For reasons unknown the hard headed and aggressive Bronson left (or was forced out of) her last position off planet for Copperhead, good thing she has the giant cat-thing Officer Budroxifinicus, or Boo as he doesn’t like to be called, to assist her. Because she’s going to need all the help she can get with Copperhead, its residence, and her first Sewell homicide.
For good reasons, Copperhead #1 from Jay Faerber and Scott Godlewski is already creating something of a positive buzz. Copperhead #1 is pure entertainment. I seem to enjoy comics more if I can see it in my head as a great cinematic experience or long running TV series, and Copperhead is exactly that. Some people like to keep comic books on comic pages, but I know the writing and art are excellent if it can transport me away from its pages. At the moment Copperhead #1 isn’t fun, it isn’t serious, it simply exists as entertainment, but the characters and events its already introduced are so compelling it makes you almost beg for the second issue.

Copperhead #1 is a fantastic book that could easily be over looked, but like I tell people over and over, “don’t underestimate the space western.” I haven’t really told anyone that before but I’ve told you now so it’s a thing….officially. Ah space westerns, I love you so, or at least for the first few issues until you start getting all crazy on me like East of West. But unless you pull out four horsemen of death and multiple timelines I think Copperhead will be just fine.
