The Fearless Defenders #1
There are no ninjas in this book, despite what the front cover shows.
It’s a book that screams bad (or awesome) 1970’s exploitation film, a plot with a buxom blonde Asgardian god teaming up with the wise cracking, bad black secret agent chick. But don’t call her a chick to her face, you’ll catch a right upside your head. Imagine following them through bad one liners, excuses to show them half naked, add some hot female on female action, and you’ve got The Fearless Defenders.
I’m typically hip to all that jazz, you dig? But there was a disconnect with Defenders #1, everything just felt fake or forced. I couldn’t get the feel for that great blacksploitation vibe. Of course, that could all change in issue #2 if they put all of the girls in a women’s correctional institution, Caged Heat anyone? Unless you prefer island/jungle prisons and The Big Bird Cage is more your style. I think you feel what I laying down.
