“Way of the Outsider”
Tatsu Toro has her husbands dead soul, and the souls of many others felled by it’s blade, in her soultaker katana. She’s clumsy, yet determined, weak, but strong willed. She’s searching for further training and the inner strength to wield the powerful blade she possesses.
Katana’s part of the new Justice League of America, set to release next week, and since I didn’t know anything about her, I’m assuming many others didn’t either, so why not introduce her. The introduction is good, short, and to the point. The writing by Ann Nocenti helps you see the struggles and inner demons she battles. I don’t see her as a super power, I see her as someone with faults but great potential. Alex Sanchez’es art really helps the book pop too, it has a great classic Japanese feel.
I wasn’t blown away by the book, but it’s a really well done book none-the-less. I could see a lot of people really enjoying Katana as a character, or hating her I guess.
