Comic Book Guru
Brian was like most kids growing up and had various comics here and there. Then one fateful day when he was in junior high, he found a very well read copy of the Official Handbook to the Marvel Universe #5 H-J on the bus to school. He read it over and over again and took to the characters of Hawkeye, Iceman, and Jack of Hearts. Having gotten “the bug”, he needed to track down more of these books. This led him to his local comic shop in Spencerport, New York and from there the lifelong passion began.
Brian never envisioned owning a comic book shop until he met his friend Jolly Jim. Between nights hanging out with Jim shooting pool, he started helping out around the shop. From working on the Tuesday order to covering the register from time to time, he realized this is something he truly wanted to do with his life. As he puts it, “comic shops turn bad days into good ones”.
Being a lifelong comic book collector and a comic shop owner, Brian has some pretty interesting and unique items in his personal collection. None more so than a near complete collection of 1966 Marvel Mini Books. A set of six books, these are dubbed as the “smallest comic books ever made”. Each book was released in six different colors. He did have a complete collection until color shading variants began to be categorized in recent years. So the hunt continues.
