Batman Arkham Unhinged #1 Review
A prequel to the highly successful Batman: Arkham City video game was inevitable, but took a surprisingly long time to hit store shelves than I thought it would. The first issue of Batman Arkham Unhinged naturally focuses more on how Arkham City came to be, and why the rift between Catwoman and Two-Face exists there. This is a welcome storyline and I’m glad they decided to head down this route, the first issue is well written, but it’s knowing that I may get a chance to see stories involving villains you didn’t get to see much of in the video game such as Killer Croc, Bane and Solomon Grundy that keeps me excited to read further issues of Batman Arkham Unhinged.
You learn that Arkham City was founded by Mayor Sharp and “managed” by Dr. Hugo Strange who ultimately wants to house Batman more than any of Gotham Cities worst criminals. If you’ve played the video game, the ability to put voices to the characters is a nice touch, if you’re into that sort of thing. There’s plenty of Bat gadgets to see, risque fighting styles from Catwoman, and bunches of henchmen getting punched in the face to make any Batfanatic happy. And there’s of course Catwoman’s ever present cleavage that is always welcome.
