Jack Burton, your favorite confidence spewing truck driver from hopefully your favorite John Carpenter classic is back in Big Trouble in Little China #1. If it’s not your favorite Carpenter film, then forget you, and if you’ve never seen Big Trouble in Little China, what the hell have you been doing with your life?

John Carpenter in collaboration with Eric Powell take to the cult classic and bring Jack Burton back to Little China, and they don’t let him miss a beat. I could hear Jack Burton and Egg in every frame, and I loved hearing Jack’s monologues, tales of previous wives, and troubles with cults and demi-gods.

big trouble in little china #1,review,boom studios, cosmic comicsWhile Big Trouble in Little China #1 gets Jack Burton right, the art unfortunately doesn’t. I was able to put Kurt Russell’s voice to Jack and Victor Wong to Egg’s, it was so much fun, but Brian Churilla’s art left so much more to be desired. My love for the film helped me through the books so-so cartoonish art and drove me to read it to the end.

If you’re going to read Big Trouble in Little China #1 you must see the actual film and you must read it with all the actors voices. It’s the ONLY way to read and thoroughly enjoy it. I’ve added a trailer to help you bask in the greatness of what is, Big Trouble in Little China.
