Stories about superheroes seem to be everywhere these days which could explain the draw of silver age comics for sale. The movies are full of scripts depicting men and women with superpowers who come to the aid of mankind. This fascination with superheroes is certainly not new. These types of comics have gone in and out of popularity over the years and probably will for years to come.

Superheroes first showed up in the comics during what is known as the golden age of comic books. This period spanned the late 1930s to the late 1940s. Many American soldiers in World War II read comics as a way to get their minds off the horrors of war. These comic books were relatively cheap and could be disposed of easily. After the war ended, the focus of most comics shifted from superheroes to stories about crime, horror, and romance.

Around the middle of the 1950s, there was concern that reading comic books was linked to delinquent behavior in minors. Publishers decided to form the Comics Code Authority to regulate what comic books contained. This led to the eventual reintroduction of superhero stories and ushered in the silver age of comic books from around 1956 to roughly 1975.

Silver age comics for sale stores were popular places during this time period of the superhero’s resurgence. Many favorite superheroes from the golden age were brought back and given new life in the silver age comics for sale. One of the first superheroes to make his comeback was The Flash. This character had the ability to move at incredible speeds. He was welcomed back with open arms by the American public which led to the eventual return of more superheroes.

There were a few new superheroes among the tried and proven ones from the golden age in silver age comics for sale. Spider-Man made his debut in the silver age comics Amazing Fantasy #15. He was received very well and still continues to be popular today, appearing in books, magazines, TV shows, and movies.
