You remember the War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise, the one with the aliens who would gather all their nutrients from the Earth via strange veiney root system? Trees #1 is kind of like that, without the never aging Tom Cruise, death by bacteria, and any actual mobile aliens. Well, if it weren’t for the actual “trees” that touch the sky and occasional spew out corrosive waste, you wouldn’t know there were aliens at all.

The point of Trees #1 is how the aliens impacted Earth and its population without ever setting foot on the planet. The pillars dropped and were just there, with the human race unable to do anything about it, everyone just went on with there lives, adapted but never overcame. That’s where our main characters come in, something big is happening, and it’s all happening together on different parts of the planet.

Warren Ellis has a strong enough following to make Trees #1 sell out, it seems Image Comics has a knack for selling out first prints, and rightfully so, Trees #1 should sell out, it’s an interesting and intriguing book. Ellis streamlines the first issue with precision pace. Everything is introduced accordingly, nothing hangs around too long, and it finishes incredibly strong. Don’t miss Trees #1 from Warren Ellis and Jason Howard because it the strong foundation for issues to come, its roots are strong. I’ll see myself out…
